Reflection #10
Coach
tells Thom that he can no longer be on the team because he is gay, even though
he makes up an excuse about his health. I find this very insulting because you
are cutting a person off a sports team because they have a different sexual
orientation than you prefer. I personally would have been pissed that he did
that, but would have responded by saying that he’ll miss me when I’m gone and
that I’m hope he’s proud of the thing he did. My parents would be furious
because the thought of getting kicked off the team for that is pretty stupid in
their opinion.
I
believe Ruth is telling Thom to go and enjoy life and not just let it roll on
by. One thing I am waiting for, besides enjoying the career I want, is to find
that one person to be with romantically. I wait because I haven’t seen someone
who is willing to be with me as much as I would want them; it’s tough, but I
know that it will happen. I am in charge of my own happiness because I make the
decisions in life that decide whether I end up happy or not.
I
don’t think it happens for most people because I think that most are
underappreciated for what they do and don’t get the gratifications they
deserve. If it happened to me, it would be just a whole crowd of people on
their feet cheering and saying my name. I feel I would gain some sense of pride
for knowing that I did something that these people appreciate and, maybe even,
love me for.
I
don’t believe there is such a thing as a perfect first kiss; but one that comes
close for me is standing there with the person you like in your arms, you look
at each other for a minute, and then slowly move in for that simple and lovely
kiss. I think it is possible because there are many people out there who want
that to happen and try to make it happen. I have had crushes on various
celebrities and we do this to enact fantasies in our heads to fill the voids we
might have.
I am not good at long posts such as this but I can and can not agree with you on question 3. to explain I agree that people overlook the ground they walk on, but i can not agree with the fact that not everyone should get the chance. as for them knowing the chance? no , if it happens it happens
ReplyDeleteI agree that sometimes that people are unappreciated for the things that they do. At the same time, we have to always remain humble in life. I also do think that people need a whole crowd of people screaming your name etc. like Thom's experience. Sometimes its a simple great job from several people or a certain person we look up to that makes us feel invincible. My Mom is constantly praising me for every little thing I do. She sends cards and texts as often as she can. She is my biggest cheerleader and always makes me feel that I am on top of the world. In life we need to stop looking for such grand things, and appreciate the smaller ones. I love your insight on things though. :)
